About the UGLY truth

Most small businesses don’t fail dramatically.

They leak quietly.

the UGLY truth exists to stop the leaks.

This is the behind-the-scenes writing I wish more people published: the real decisions, the uncomfortable trade-offs, and the boring-but-powerful systems that save hours instead of stealing them.

What I believe

• Clarity beats motivation.

• Boundaries aren’t dramatic - people-pleasing is.

• Tools don’t fix avoidance.

• Consistency is easier when your system isn’t lying to you.

• AI is useful when it reduces effort and increases quality - not when it turns you into a content mill.

What you’ll get here

I write about four things because they’re the four forces shaping small business right now:

  • Running a business - decisions, offers, time, pricing, priorities

  • AI - practical use, ethical use, and what’s actually worth learning

  • Social media - leverage, positioning, and sane content strategy

  • Networking - building momentum in real rooms, not just online

This is not a “gentle encouragement” blog.

It’s a clarity blog.

Sometimes it’ll sting. That’s the point.
If a post makes you slightly defensive, it usually means it found a leak.

About Me

I’m Kathryn - an entrepreneur and marketer who builds simple business systems that create momentum without burning attention.

I’m interested in what works in real life, not what looks good on a carousel.

Weekly emails. No noise. Just what matters.
